Happy nurses week.....

I am blessed to be able to do what I love, and help the smallest patients in the world. Here is just an example of what I feel on a daily basis at work.

YES, those are my toes sticking out from my view of them, under the belly.

CRAZY.

My coworkers plan a trip to the beach every year,

 to relax and unwind for the weekend.

 A few of us just stopped by for the day to enjoy the sunshine, and the views...

 

The sheer number of pillows that it requires for me to get some shut eye,

 discouraged a weekend stay. 

 

But we did enjoy the sunshine and the company.

Lincoln Park in the Dark...

After a couple of years of holding out 

and not painting my toes the popular shade, I broke down.

 I did it.

 My toenails are black.

As my wonderful manicurist was painting them, I kept my nose in my book.

This book exactly. 

(It is not as sappy as his usual novels can be)

But when I looked down at my toes when she was finished, I saw this...

And I thought of HALLOWEEN.

Oh goodness. 

I am not so sure about the black, or as OPI calls it 'Lincoln Park in the Dark'.

(Since I had just been in Lincoln Park in Chicago a few days earlier,

 I thought why not try it, it's a sign.)

It has been a week or so, and the feeling really hasn't warn off. I am not so sure I will ever paint them black again.

See, what I mean....even with my flip flops....

They are kind of scary looking.

I know the hip girls have been going black for awhile.

 I guess this means I just can't be as hip as they are!

 Or maybe I need a tan instead!

But I can show you my favorite picture of my nephew and I in Lincoln Park.

I am honored to be a maid of honor for one of my best friends.... (I do think this is my first MOH experience...) My story is always a bridesmaid, never a bride maid of honor! But, I guess what comes around goes around since, I could not choose a maid of honor for my own wedding!!! : )

This was a small shower that the bridesmaids and I put together. I can say that I am very happy with how it turned out. I admit I gave a few high 5's to my fellow workers, adding a triple arm pump when no one was looking when it was all set up. I impressed myself.... and that is hard to do. It was a lovely day, and the setting was beautiful too...

monterey bay aquarium love....

a couple of weeks ago, i was able to visit a favorite aquarium of mine, with two favorite people. A certain little person named k, as posted previously, loves fish! well, let's say she loves sharks.... a blond pigtail wearing, shark lover she is.....

she is just about as big as some of the sharks we saw.....

she couldn't wait to get her hands in and touch the sea life.

i think she really wanted to touch these guys......

Luckily she could not reach them... thank goodness

I liked the jelly fish.....

and the sand dollars.  Did you know they stand on end in turbulent waters?

But, i have always loved the kelp forest and all of the aquariums  large tanks....

 i could sit there for hours.

They remind me of scuba diving and how peaceful it is under the water. i just love it. i promise i will go back soon. i need too. so does little k......

It was a lovely day spent with my god daughter. I wish I could have more days like that....

rainy day ballerina....

After dance class on a rainy day. of course the cute rain boots were fun to put on, but a jacket.... no way. Luckily it was not too cold!

What is it about little girls in tutu's that is just undeniably darling??    

 

I wish i could still look cute in a tutu. : ) wait. i am not so sure i ever looked cute in a tutu? That may have to be a way-back Wednesday picture....

I took someone close to me to an aquarium of sorts on friday...

I mean an aquarium of sorts in a loose sense of the word. When I asked her if she wanted to go to the children's discovery museum she repiled "THE AQUARIUM!"..... um well....let me think about that...

Seeing as though her most favorite place on earth is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and who's isn't? even at almost three years old? She was only under my care for a few hours, not enough time to drive there and back for a fun filled day. So, i remembered a store in mountain view that has an eclectic sort of reptiles and fish, so i said... yes! we can go to an aquarium today!!! She replied, "Do they have sharks?". um...."I know they have eels and really big iquana's." i said. - "but no sharks??" we will have to see. I really could not tell if she WANTED to see sharks, or did NOT WANT to see sharks....

As it turned out, there were no sharks. and she was a little sad about that.  But she did meet face to face with a 6 foot iquana, that rocked her world. Tough little thing.  If it was me, at three, that might have sent me screaming.... instead she smiled. : )

Her favorite was this yellow angel fish....

She walked around and around and around.... so much so, we were late to meet her mom. yikes!!
