I finally added the finishing touches! I knit the flower petals and then felted them while I needlefelted the green petals in 3D and then needle felted them onto the bag. The flower is pinned onto the bag. Very much a spring thing!!

Well, really like it. I don't know if I will be carrying it around much as my main purse, but maybe now and then.

I recently took a needlefelting class and I really enjoyed it. It is strangely relaxing working with a long multi barbed needle. wierd. I took the class at a darling shop in Burlingame called Yarn, Paper, Scissors. The owner is a lovely women who used to be a divorce attorney and realized there are much happier things to do with her days. So she followed her heart and gave up law and opened up this darling studio for all things crafty! Right up my alley. If you have a chance, take a look, and sit a spell at Yarn, Paper, Scissors.

Candy and Me...

That is my name. I LOVE CANDY! Insert the song now....
I was so excited to learn of a neat little candy store in willow glen last year. It was perfect for the hubby and I. There are a million types of candy in this neighborhood candy store, and for the hubby they serve delectable gelato. yum. His favorite is a combination of dark chocolate and raspberry gelato. My favorite is a combination of lemon or (limon as they call it), and raspberry along with a bag of sour jelly bellys, cherry fruit sour balls, sour gummy worms, sugar babies, and an old fashion taffy stick. This makes for our traditional outing. We walk and eat and chat and eat some more. The darling husband (DH) is usually finished with his gelato before me. He INHALES it. I use a tiny taster spoon and slowly savor every bite. We then usually hit the movies to enjoy my new candy stash. If I am feeling generous, I will share. just kidding. (but not really). The DH does not fault me for my fatal flaw as a candy hog. He learned early on I was serious about my candy. This was about the same time I learned he can INHALE gelato. So when we were out this weekend we ran into a brand new Powell's in Burlingame. Did I mention they have a non stop showing of willy wonka and the chocolate factory, complete with old fashioned movie seating. The DH and I just sat on the bench and watched child after child enter this "sweet heaven". Their eyes grew as large as thier smiles. For this was the first time they had been there. Oh, what a delight!

Here is another lady who is so serious about candy that she wrote a book about it. It is called Candy and me, a love affair. I loved reading this novel. It felt like my life as well. If you get a chance to read it, it will bring back memories of childhood, experiencing the joy of a sugar high.

So as I sit and munch on my starburst jelly beans, and rejoice in the coming of easter soon (that means more jelly beans readily available in the local stores), I have taken on a new knitting project. I saw it on someone's blog last week, and thought it might be something fun and challenging to make.

I am on the third row, and I have already used my new knitters handbook twice. Not really a good sign. Wish me well! I have a ton of baby gifts to give away soon. yikes...

Lost and Found...

Okay, I am not a super political person. Much to my history and government professors dislike, but I ran across this music video of a speech by Barack Obama and it moved me. An artist joined music to the words of his speech and it makes you want to believe that we are one people and one nation. Despite the party lines that seem to divide everyone, this video makes you believe anything is possible. Watch and enjoy for the message because it is so universal. Obama is running a clever campaign, but can he run the country? I am not sure. Has any other president hopeful moved you? Not me. Would I love to see a woman become president? Oh yes. But that does not mean that either candidate is getting my vote, not just yet.

Update: I just found my lost knitting instructions for my felted bag. I LOVE finding things I have misplaced. I also found a $5 dollar bill in my jacket pocket. Yahoooo! (I think I might leave it there, so that I can find it again) Gosh, I am easy. : >

This is not me. I wish. Although our engagement rings are crazy similar, I am not able to work that many needles at one time. This is a member of my knitting group at Commuknity. She is unreal with needles in her hands.

Rain,Rain go away....

I am tired of the rain. It has been raining for a couple of days but the forecast looks like it will continue for many more. I usually like the rain, but I am tired of it now. Do I sound cranky? sorry. We have friends in town for the week to play golf and hang out. It seems we will be doing a lot less golf and alot more hanging out than we planned. Fandango and popcorn, here we come!!

At least the weather helps me complete some ongoing craft projects.

The previous project of a felted bag I did in my knitting book club came out great! It was my first felted project, and I really enjoyed the whole thing. The knitting seemed beyond my limits at times, but I made it through without an error. A huge thank you to my knitting group at Commuknity!! We listen to a book on CD and complete the project one day a week. Kind of fun and kind of old lady-ish. I have been teased by a few friends to say the least. But, I am a young-ish knitter who is not so old lady like, so that makes it okay with me. Here are a few pictures of the process....

I have the perfect accessory for the front of the bag half made, except I have misplaced the directions. Opps. I am definitely not Martha material, she would be so disappointed. again.

I just started a new knitting project with my knitting group. It is a little bit challenging again. A fan and feather style baby blanket pattern with this yummy yarn. I am on the tenth row, and in a heap of trouble!! I need to visit the shop for some assistance/encouragement. YIKES. I hope I am not over my head!! Wish me luck! I will try to run in between the rain drops!!
