While I was participating in a nursing internship at Yale, one of my most memorable patients 

was a 18 month old whom had accidentally grabbed and turned on the hot faucet while standing in the bathtub. She was burned across her entire lower body.

 Her strength is an inspiration to me.

 So I think I will make a sock monkey in honor of that tiny little girl, who endured so much....

Who wants to make a sock monkey with me! 

The deadline is September 18th.....

snickers satisfies...

Last week while I was at a gas station I was approached by a man whom appeared homeless. He asked "Do you have a smoke, ma am? ", I answered apologetically that I did not.  But as I sat back down in my car, I remembered I had three mini snickers in my center console. I put them there the day before, I don't remember why....God works in mysterious ways.  I rolled down my window and as I was pulling away I got the man's attention. I handed him the three snickers saying "would these work instead?". He took them, examined them and said to me, "are you trying to rot my teeth!?".

 I could not believe it. 

Here I thought he might be starving to death, and I was going to satisfy his hunger - isn't that what the commercial claims?And he has the gall to accuse me of ruining his teeth!!

All I could do is laugh. and drive away.

What I should have done ...

Is handed him my brother-in-law's card- he's a dentist.

free rice...

Okay, I know I have written about this website before, but I myself: forgot about it. So I am putting it on my sidebar, so that when I have a minute I can donate rice to the hungry. By the way....

I got to level 43 out of 60! i am beaming with pride. can you tell?

What level can you get too? I know my brother is going to blow me out of the water. dang him.  Since when does a golfer know what ubiquitous means? geez.

i am inspired by a new president, i am hopeful that change will occur. i am a little worried about how hard it will be to change a nation. : / 

i feel the only way to make a nation change is by one person at a time. that would be me....

so, i have taken starbucks pledge to volunteer 5 hours to the community, for a free coffee. what is funny about this....

i don't drink coffee. so a friend, or a stranger will benefit two fold from my pledge. hey, maybe the man hard on his luck at that corner could use a coffee....

after that....

I will be planting trees. getting my hands dirty. out in nature. having fun. volunteering....

making change....

hoping....

Daffodils in the sunshine...

What is it about flowers?
They make me so HAPPY.
I am the kind of girl that buys them for myself often. I don't have qualms or guilt about buying them for myself. I enjoy every minute that they surround me, so why not surround myself with them when I can?
When my dh (darling husband) buys them for me, the flowers are extra special. It is the little kindnesses we do for one another, that make up this beautiful life we have. So I need to remind myself to live it and enjoy every little minute....

Recently my mom took me to a place in which the locals call Daffodil Hill, near Coarsegold, CA. Not this famous Daffodil Hill, although this may be fun to visit sometime. This is a family property that they have turned into a mini park that is open to the public in honor of thier mother. Once a year all of the daffodils bloom across this park nestled in a valley. It is a spectacular site! Every bulb was planted in memory of one lady. A very special lady to her family and community. What is even more enriching about the experience is that her legacy touches people long after she has gone. I would be honored to lead a life, which touches others souls long after I am gone. So inspiring....

I wish I had photos of Daffodil Hill, but I was in awe at the pure beauty and living in the moment when I visited. Perhaps next year I will remember to take some photos!

Free Rice...

Okay, I just found an absolutely addictive game that lets you build your English vocabulary, and while doing so, it donates grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program to help stop world hunger. The donation of rice is made possible by the unobtrusive ads that line the bottom of the screen.

All you have to do is select the correct definition of a given word from a choice of four words -- similar to an SAT test. Each time you choose a correct answer twenty grains of rice are donated, no penalties are given for incorrect answers. So go on over and give it a try. I averaged a vocabulary level of 36. What about you?
